The printing of the self-learning modules (SLMs) and other reading materials will no longer be a problem in DepEd Davao Region as Canon Philippines allocated five mono printer units and three color laser multifunctional units that can produce the region’s module requirements.
Edward Guazon, a service specialist of Canon, said one mono printer unit can produce 110 copies per minute using A4 size paper. If used continuously for a day, these machines can produce 800,000 copies. This is a good number to address all the needed SLMs of the region.
DepEd Davao Region will utilize these Canon printers designed for high volume printing from January 15 to April 15. Within this period, all the printing requirements especially for third and fourth quarters of the SLMs would have been catered.
The region will have to provide for the ink and papers to be used. The free use of the printing equipment and the provision of support services including on-call service engineer are all provided by Canon Philippines.
Assistant Regional Director Dr. Maria Ines C. Asuncion appreciates the support of Canon Philippines. For her, the printing machines will not only help the Department with quality output, but it will make the work easier and reliable.
“I am happy that we have built good partnership with Canon Philippines. We find all the means to ensure that our learners and teachers are both comfortable in the teaching-learning process,” ARD Asuncion said.
