Tickled by his love of art, inspired by the vibrant colors of paints and oil pastels, and by the devotion and guidance of his parents and teachers, Nathan M. Vitorillo, a nine-year old Child With Autism (CWA)- student of Panabo Central Elementary School SPED Center, expresses his thoughts and feelings through paintings.
Even at an earlier age, Nathan has already shown happiness and excitement in almost everything that he does, however, he could hardly express it through speech. His words are very minimal, but this does not hinder his way towards developing and creating great artworks through paintings.
“He is always excited to hold the paint brush, play with acrylic paints, and create different pictures. During this new normal, he developed even better skills in painting though online tutorial. As a mother, I never cease guiding him especially when he is doing his artworks,” Jane Vitorillo shared happily.
From simple to complex paintings, Nathan diligently and excellently completed them all. He devoted most of his time in doing his tasks as a learner. His disability does not stop him from unleashing his potentials, and these are all done with the help of his mother and his teacher, Angelita Salibio.
The paintings are now mounted in one of the leading restaurants in Panabo City, The Vitorillo’s Kitchen, and some others are proudly mounted in the wall of their own home. Nathan continues to explore advanced painting while at home.
Nathan has also manifested development in other skills such as reading and comprehension. Truly, the pandemic is never a hindrance for anyone to continue learning.
